Community Cohesion

Welcome to DMAC UK’s free course in African Hand & Stick Drumming. We’ve been funded by the Quartet Foundation to provide this course in conjunction with the Community Police Service. The aim is to bring together school children, parents/guardians and members of the community police to learn this amazing art-form from two of Bristol’s most experienced drum and dance teachers.

Parents and children participate, so this is not a drop-off class, we are interested in an inter-generational course, with members of the community police also participating, in a learning capacity.

We will be filming a couple of the classes and final performance so please bare this in mind when you book. We always aim to record our projects in some way to help us demonstrate the work we’re doing and to help us get projects funded in the future. Your booking will be taken to include consent for use of photographic/video footage, which may appear on our website and social media.

Please book two places, one for yourself and one for your child. The tutors will provide drum equipment.

The course starts Tuesday 17th of May at 7pm to 8pm at the APE Project (St Pauls Adventure Playground). The course will run each Tuesday for 6 weeks but please note there will be a break for half-term, so no class on the 31st of May. The tutors will confirm end-of-course performance details during the course.

Enjoy!
